Success is an iceberg

This. This is the PERFECT representation of what it's like when you reach a major goal, such as weight loss. Especially significant amounts of weight loss.

I've had a few experiences where people will say things alluding to the idea that losing weight was "easy" for me.

Whaaaat??? Fucking L.O.L!

Um, no. I struggled my whole entire life, and it was only when I was 28 that I was finally able to find the right combination of motivation and appropriate changes that worked for me. And losing 90 lbs? That took 18 months. Plenty of plateaus and road blocks happened along the way. It was the most difficult and overwhelming thing I've done in my life (ok, except parenthood, but that's a post for another day).

Here is me at age 13 or 14 (sorry for bad quality - it's an old, scanned photo). I weighed more then, than I do now.

Here's another interesting one. Again, in maybe 13-14 years old on the left. Too old for the round face to be dismissed as "baby fat".  Age 32 on the right.

And you know what? It's not even about the weight. It's about how you feel (and how do I look like I feel in the pic above, on the left?) And it's about what you can do. The fact is, I have never felt so healthy, energetic, and strong. Physically, I feel 10 times younger than I ever did as a teenager.

But the road to get to this point? Not easy, and very long. What you see now is just a small part of my story...what you see is just a small part of anyone's story.

It's just the tip of the iceberg...try not to make assumptions about what lies beneath.

  1. Hi Kandi, I agree that the iceberg is a great model of weight loss because you really don't see what's inside everyone's story. It's crazy how you can feel even better than now than your younger days but it's all a blessing from above! Take care and God bless. Leeman
