When the time is right....

"I'll start tomorrow!"
"I'll start on Monday!"
"I'll start on the 1st of the month!"
"I'll start after Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years..."

I have heard them all and probably used them all. Statements proclaiming when you are finally going to make the changes. But we need to remember some things about timing our weight loss journeys...

First of all, it doesn't matter when you start or when you plan to start - you won't be successful if the time isn't right. By the time being right, I mean you have to be truly ready and willing to make the commitment and sacrifices necessary. If you aren't truly ready for that, it won't matter how you plan your timing.

Second of all, if you truly are ready, then why wait for tomorrow, or Monday, or next month, or after the holiday? Why can't you start NOW, with your next snack or meal? Why can you take a walk, join the gym, buy an exercise video, or try out Wii Fit TODAY? You know what they say, there is no time like the present. SO TRUE!

Finally, try to keep in mind that putting it off is only deepening the problem. Every day that you continue feeding your body junk, is another day of unhealthy. It's making it that much harder to get going. It's making it easier to continue making excuses.

Don't put it off. Make that decision, accept responsibility for where you are, and make the commitment to put in the work to get to where you want to be!!! Trust me - I may have lost a bunch of weight, but it has not been easy. It still isn't easy. I have had to work my butt off. I have made tons of mistakes along the way. I made a mistake this morning! But one thing I do have that I never had in my previous attempts, is healthy motivations and a sense of lifetime commitment.

I'm on a roll!

It is nice to know that even though I might get stuck sometimes...for long periods of time even (well, it sure seems like forever!)...I can also have some good streaks. I weighed in thismorning, and I lost more!

We all know that I round my numbers so that I don't have to deal with point-this and point-that. So yesterday when I said I lost 2 lbs...well actually I had lost 2.2 lbs, but I rounded down.
Today I lost 1.5 lbs. Typically I might round down for that too, but 2.2 plus 1.5 makes almost 4. And the whole number I am closest to on the scale is what puts me at 24 lbs lost. So that is what I'm going with. In reality, I need another .03 to get to 24 even, but big whoop - that could be a trip to the bathroom.

I have no idea why the sudden jump start, other than I was using the treadmill again for a couple of nights. I didn't last night but I plan on it again tonight. I hope I can keep this going!! If I am going to be honest, I will say that it's only another 4 lbs to hit and pass a really exciting milestone, so I hope I can do it. That's right...to be under 200 lbs. I haven't been under 200 since before I was pregnant with Kaitlyn. You know, they say baby weight is hard to lose. HOLY CRAP. Yes it is. It only took me 4-5 years :-) Granted I did have 2 babies in that time, but still.

And by the way - I did register for the 5k.

Frustrated

So I waited a few days between weigh-ins (partially to try out hubby's advice)...and it sucks. I gained .04.

I realize that in reality, I probably didn't "gain" anything. I mean, .04 is nothing...less than a good morning pee. (LOL). But still, I'm a little bummed that my weight did nothing in the last 3 days. And now I will wonder...if I had weighed myself each night and saw that I was staying the same/gaining...would that have pushed me to work harder? Harder enough that I might have lost a little? Oh well...I will work hard this week to see another loss on the scale. And...

On February 17th (which also happens to be my older daughter's birthday...she will be 4 this year) my new treadmill will arrive!! Unfortunately I won't be around to use it right away, because on the 18th I'm heading out for a weekend of fun. But starting that Monday... my new wake up time is 4 am, at least 4 days a week, so that I can go run (or even just walk on my more tired or sore days). Plus I think a few days a week I will still do something (30DS, Wii Fit, Wii Biggest Loser, boxing...something) a few nights a week.

That is my plan. I am determined to get the weight off this time. This time is different than any other time. This time, I will not start then quit right away. I will not do it half-assed.

I will succeed.
